Atty. Jonel P. Amio (JPA) is an Associate at Bathan-Lasco Baterina Abayon Law (BLBA) in Makati City, where he is engaged in a broad range of practice areas, including corporate law, labor and employment, civil and criminal litigation, and commercial advisory work. In his current role, he assists both individual and corporate clients by providing strategic legal advice, preparing and reviewing contracts, and representing clients in dispute resolution. His work reflects his commitment to professionalism, attention to detail, and client-focused advocacy.

Prior to joining BLBA Law, he worked at Littles Lawyers, an Australian firm specializing in superannuation, insurance, and compensation claims, particularly Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) and Income Protection (IP) matters.

His legal career began during his second year at the University of San Carlos (USC) in Cebu City, when he became a paralegal at Bathan and Associates Law Firm. Under the tutelage of his mentors, Atty. Maricris Bathan-Lasco, Dean of Sto. Niño Mactan College (SNMC) School of Law in Lapu-Lapu City, and her mother, Atty. Alicia Evangelista Bathan, former Dean of University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR) College of Law and University of Southern Philippines (USPF) College of Law, he gained extensive exposure to corporate law, labor law, tax law, property law, family law, criminal law, civil law, and intellectual property law. This mentorship provided him with a strong grounding in both litigation and corporate practice, shaping his early development as a lawyer.

Before entering the legal profession, Atty. Jonel P. Amio built a solid career as a media practitioner, a background that honed his communication skills and sharpened his ability to present complex issues with clarity, precision, and impact. As a professional media practitioner, Atty. Amio earned various recognitions and awards for his work. Notably, in 2018, he was named a National Finalist at the Save the Children Media Awards for his article “Malnutrition a Natl Emergency Too – NNC,” published by Panay News. This recognition underscored his commitment to public interest issues and responsible journalism.

Atty. Amio completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at West Visayas State University (WVSU) in La Paz, Iloilo City. During his academic years, he was an active member of his school paper and the official university publication, while also distinguishing himself as a debater. He served as president of the Iloilo Debate Union, and was extensively involved in public speaking engagements, as well as journalism trainings where he acted as a trainer, further reinforcing his strengths in advocacy, analysis, and effective communication.

In August 2019, he commenced his legal studies at the University of San Carlos (USC) - School of Law and Governance. He subsequently graduated, successfully passed the Philippine Bar Examinations, took his oath, and signed the Roll of Attorneys in 2023.
